Course Description

Class Description:


In this recorded course, students will be shown how to build and process Protein Data Bank data inside of Houdini. They will learn how to understand atomic values, visualize atomic elements, bonds between elements, information about residues and binding sites, as well as other protein information. There will also be a visual element for breaking down the different systems inside of biological proteins.

Learning Outcomes:


After participating in this course, students will be able to use tools to accurately produce results when it comes to producing scientific examples of proteins. They will be able to use various plugins and tools to generate results and have a better understanding of PDB.

Session 1

Breaking Down Protein Systems


In session one we will understand the basics of what proteins are, how they create you, and the different processes inside them.

  4. Bonds, Atomic Properties, and Connections
  5. Protein Folding and Animations
  6. Visualization Methods for Proteins

Session 2

Working with Wireframe, Ribbon, and Spapefilling Diagrams


In session two, we will learn how to create Space-Filling, Wireframe, and Ribbon Diagrams in Houdini.

Session 3

Protein Animations


In session three, we will learn how to animate proteins. We will break down different charges and attributes you will need to set up to animate your proteins.
